Purchasing Online

I wonder if I'd ever be able to buy yarn from online? I suppose if it was something I knew already...like Boa, or Fun Fur, or something like that. But so much of yarn shopping for me is tactile. First, the colour catches my eye, but then I have a need to pet it. I've been known to surreptitously (and not so much) pet the yarn that comes through my till.

Would you ever buy yarn online?

Probably not. It's one of those things I need to be able to see the real colors of. I've done far too much image mucking to ever trust that the colors are "real". The feeling of it isn't quite as important, but the colors sure are.

Unless I saw something so completely awesome that I simply had to have it and couldn't get it locally. :)

I recently bought some black eyelash yarn, and something similar to this to go with it: http://www.lionbrand.com/graphics/yarns/560-254b.jpg

I think I can make two hats with the two of these... with the funky stuff on first couple of inches at the bottom, and then plain black the rest of the way.

Should be fun to try anyway. :)

I also bought this ultra chunky stuff (it's like the knitting with pencils made of yarn) and I think I'm going to make a pair of big chunky socks out of them. Maybe. Or, I'll probably give in and make HATS HATS HATS! ;)

hey, I posted a comment to this... where'd it go?

Hmm.

Anyhoo, it was something along the lines of: Probably not, as I'm particular about color. The touching of it is nice, and necessary for unfamiliar yarn, but even for stuff that I'm familiar with... I want to see the color up close and personal.

I'm on hat #8 now! :)
